No!

Is building 3,750 houses north of Dorchester between Stinsford and Charminster going to help meet local housing needs? No!

There are already 11,060 permitted development plots for market housing approved across the Dorset Council area that have not yet been built.

Why do we need thousands more houses on a site that will pollute our water supply and threaten the environment and the heritage of the area?

And what about the impact on traffic congestion and hospital waiting lists? Despite claims from the North Dorchester Consortium (NDC) in their recent leaflet to local households that there will some affordable housing within the proposed development, there are no guarantees.

The infrastructure costs associated with this site – notably water supply and treatment, will likely make the provision of genuinely affordable housing unviable financially for the developers. The local housing priority is for social rent homes.

At the upcoming NDC public exhibitions at the United Church on August 20th and September 2nd, you will have an opportunity to put such critical questions to the developers.
