STAND by for a new Dorset Council Local Plan with a consultation this summer on sites for housebuilding to meet the government’s massive new housing targets. The north of Dorchester with its proposed 4,000 houses is almost certain to be one of those sites even though there is little evidence that we need so much housing.

If you’re worried about the negative impact this scale of development will have on our local water supply, on nature, on our heritage landscape, on our local health services, and on traffic and congestion in the area, then contact your local Councilor.

Keep in mind that there’s no guarantee that this proposed development would provide the truly affordable, sustainable homes that local residents – especially young families – need.

Dorset Council is having to plan for a housing target established by central government not one determined by local need. You can sign a national petition organized by MP Chris Hinchcliff objecting to this overriding of local democracy at the following link: https://www.chrishinchliff.co.uk/planning-petition

STAND up for people and nature before developers’ profits!
